| Bell Wharf Beach Leigh-on-Sea, Essex |
| I have very fond memories of Bell Wharf in my early teens 1950,s untill I moved down to Cornwall some years later on .My very vivid thoughts must go back to one November 5th on Bonfire night. When it must of seen 300 or so teenagers mustering up for a firework night to be remembered by all who were there.That stuff does not happen right now. But it was great fun. Earlier days saw me learning to sail at 3rd CB Sea Scouts and later on sailing my own dinghy a Mini-Sailclass around those waters followed up by several pints of bitter in many of the local pubs. I can remember my neighbours Frank and Mary who lived in Sandleigh Road having the sailmakers loft on the Wharf. Happy Days back then .Former Leigh Boy .

| Great beach. Sandy like Broadstairs, but unlike Broadstairs it doesn’t get too crowded, even when the tide is in. Plenty of cafes and bars close by. The south east’s only south facing beach! |
